Client Brief

The client of this typical Edwardian 3 bedroom, semi detached family house in Muswell Hill wanted to convert the existing three-bedroom house into to a four-bedroom house with alterations to the ground floor. The proposal was to create open and naturally lit, user-friendly spaces for their house whilst keeping to a tight construction budget.

Advice/Solution

The existing loft room floor and roof structure were strengthened to allow for an additional bedroom. Relocating the existing bathroom on the ground floor to the top floor was more convenient and conventional location that allowed enhanced views to the extra long garden.

The main structural, electrical and plumbing works were carried out. To save on construction costs where ever possible existing materials were retained and exposed.

Outcome

The bathroom relocation allowed for the insertion of tall, glazed, sliding, folding bespoke timber doors in its place. The ground floor now allowed users to access the garden and patio area, which was bound by an existing masonry garden wall, which gave a courtyard feel to this outside room.
Internal walls were demolished to create an open plan living dining kitchen area.
